This is the final lecture from Melanie Rupflin's Second Year Differential Equations Course. In this lecture we prove the parabolic maximum principle and discuss how it can be used also for nonlinear versions of the heat equation to control the behaviour of solutions in terms of the initial and boundary data. • This is the latest lecture in the series of undergraduate lectures that we are making available to give an insight in to life in Oxford Mathematics. All first and second year lectures are followed by tutorials where students meet their tutor to go through the lecture and associated problem sheet and to talk and think more about the maths. Third and fourth year lectures are followed by classes. • You can watch the introductory lecture from the course as given last year by Philip Maini: • Differential Equations 1: Oxford Math... • You can watch many other student lectures via our main Student Lectures playlist (also check out specific student lectures playlists): • Student Lectures - All lectures
