In December, the African National Congress former military wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe will turn 60. Since the body was integrated into the SA National Defence force in 1994. The ANC has since struggled with how to re-purpose or remember its significance. The party is currently having a conversation called the MK veterans unity process, in an effort to merge the two Umkhontho formations, Umkhonto we Sizwe Military veterans, MKVA, and the Umkhonto National Council.
