In this video, Sir David Attenborough introduces Kew's Breathing Planet Programme - a 10-year action plan to rescue, revive and restore the plants and fungi that directly or indirectly sustain us all. Its aim is to help the planet -- and everything that lives on it -- to breathe a little more easily, paving the way for a better and more secure future. • Humans are so powerful; our capacity for destruction is so great that we have to do something positive. You can't protect the natural world unless you understand it and one of the great guardians of the natural world is an institution like this. • Kew is one of the first scientific botanic gardens of the modern era.
