Detailed lecture on patellofemoral joint biomechanics, this session discuss the patellofemoral joint stress and stability. The joint stress is force per unit area, and being an in congruent joint as well as due to speciality of patellofemoral joint, the joint is highly susceptible to the joint stress. The reasons for this high stress is mainly due to the pull of quadriceps and the patellar tendon. There is a difference between line of quadriceps pull and patellar tendon this puts into a high joint stress which is compressive in nature. • The patellofemoral joint stress is high at flexion range and minimum at extension, and as flexion progress it increase further and reaches maximum at deep flexion range. • Further discussion focuses on the frontal plane stabil of patellofemoral joint, contrary to the maximum compression at flexion, stability is maximum at flexion and minimal at extension. • Time codes: • 1.Patellofemoral joint stress: 1:40 • 2.Factors regulating stress: 2:21 • 3.Joint stress in extension: 7:20 • 4.Joint stress in flexion: 10:03 • 5.Compensatory strategy : 12:40 • 6.Patellofemoral joint stabiliy: 22:30 • 7.Compensatory strategy to increase stablity: 26:40 • WATCH VIDEO FOR MORE DETAILS... • For more doubts and notes............. • • Follow my official Facebook page:   / tonystutorial   • • • or my Instagram profile:   / tonystutorial   • • TONY JOSEPH • ASSISTANT PROFESSOR • KANNUR MEDICAL COLLEGE
