Phillip Sear plays a wonderful evocation of goose-stepping from a set of 12 'Federzeichnungen' (Pencil sketches) from 1899 by the Danish pianist and composer Ludvig Schytte. • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • If you would like to know more about Ludvig Schytte (1848-1909) the Danish pianist and composer of this piece, have a look at his own brief account of his life written in 1901 in the March edition of the Etude magazine, which can be downloaded from here: https://goo.gl/zy5trR . For me the 'Pencil sketches', taken as a whole, are not Schyttes most inspired works - but there are some attractive movements, including this one, with its brilliantly forward moving upward chromatic sequences which somehow presage a Nazi or Soviet military parade My thumbnail shows a detail from a photo of the modern masters of goose-stepping - the DPRK military. • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear • http://www.psear.co.uk (Email: [email protected] • WhatsApp: http://wa.me/441444483794 ) TikTok: / pianogems
