'Works for me.' That was Sgt Rick Hunter's catchphrase and it helped Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer launch one of Stephen J Cannell's most successful cop shows. Kramer wasn't there for all seven years of 'Hunter' (1984); she left after season six to pursue a musical career. And she wasn't easy to replace. The first new partner was killed off after 13 episodes; her replacement filled out the rest of the show's final season. Years later there were several revival movies, and Kramer came back; a 2003 sequel series vanished after three episodes.
