Before installing any indoor cell phone booster you'll want to first conduct a site survey to examine the building and the local signal conditions. In this WilsonPro video we discuss what a site survey is, the benefits of performing a site survey, how to do it and the tools you'll need. A site survey will show you where strongest cell signal is outside building. I will also show you where signal is weakest inside the building. • Once you have this information, you can begin to design a layout for the cell phone antennas, including the donor antenna and the broadcast antenna(s). • The site survey will also help you determine the lengths of coax cable needed to connect the Wilson booster and the cell booster antennas. • The site survey will also indicate what tools you will need to complete the installation as well as the need for any additional system components, like splitters or channel filters. • Finally the completed site survey will provide you, the installer, with a map of the buildings signal coverage that you can show the client so he or she has a firm understanding of problem signal areas so you can discuss solutions. • To obtain a floorpan or blueprint for the building you're working there are a number of options. It is usually easiest to talk with the building manager, most times they will have a floorpan available, even a fire escape map works great. If a floorpan is unavailable you can contact the city or county you are in as most keep copies of blueprints on file.
