This was our first staycation since the lockdown lifted and the hotel had just reopened that week. We arrived early but the room was not ready so we left our bags and were told to come back later. We only managed to check-in at around 2pm. That said, we were delighted that we were upgraded from a Cutler to a Collyer Suite (larger room, separate living area). We requested for late checkout and were allowed to stay till 2pm. • ~ Room Experience ~ • At 52 sqm, the room sounds larger than most rooms in Singapore. It was comfortable with a sizeable bathroom and a separate living area. However given the building's age, the designers/planners had constraints when converting the old office tower to a hotel. The room was long rather than wide. So the living area and kitchen struggled to be illuminated by the natural sunlight from the windows. We later found out there is more than one type of Collyer Suite and the room we were offered was not of the larger configuration (though it was a free upgrade so can't complain). The other type of Collyer Suite has a larger living area (about double the size) that is more square than rectangular. That configuration has the L-shaped sofa in the center of the room, facing the TV straight on. Speaking of the TV, while the room includes 2 TVs, they are of an older design (maybe 5 years or more). Hence the picture came out a little grainy. I do appreciate having a second TV and a separate living area that can be closed off from the bedroom though. The interior décor suits the building the hotel is housed in: a fusion of heritage and modern, not unlike the décor found in the Fullerton Hotel or Raffles Hotel. • ~ Pool Gym Experience ~ • There is a staff member regulating access to the pool and gym. The pool and gym are limited to 5 people each. This is understandable given the facilities aren't that large. We stayed on a weekend in July 2020 and while the pool and gym were usually not empty, we didn't have to wait long for our turn. Though I foresee longer wait times when business starts to pick up. • NOTE: As our stay was during the COVID-19 period, our experience may differ from the norm at this hotel. • Audio: Lisbon - Ason ID • For any business, press or industry related enquiries, please contact • [email protected]
