Past results don't count in the Soweto Derby and this weekend's Absa Premiership fixture will be no different according to Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter ahead of their clash with arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB stadium on December 8. Chiefs who are currently three points ahead of Pirates with 13 games played in the league beat Ajax Cape Town 3-0 and it's a result that Baxter feels will count for little come Saturday afternoon... • • Pirates were held to a goalless draw by new comers Chippa United at Athlone stadium in Cape Town last night and also rested a few players, including Bafana internationals Siyabonga Sangweni and Sifiso Myeni who both served their one game suspensions. Coach Roger De Sa has more on this clash of titans that was sold out more than two weeks ago... • • De Sa is only in his third month as a Pirates coach and this will be his first ever derby as a Bucs mentor and he is relishing the opportunity of leading a big institution like Pirates into this weekend's encounter... • • The FNB stadium pitch has been placed under scrutiny in the past few weeks due to the bad condition of the pitch especially after the music concerts that have been held there. The Bafana Bafana and Zambia international friendly match was played in a badly prepared pitch as they played just few days after the Pop group Linkin Park had staged a concert there. Baxter made it clear that quality football from the two Soweto giants will require a a pitch that is in good condition... • • Chiefs are not just the log leaders at the moment but have scored the most number of goals as well (27) and they possess a striking force that has been clinical in front of the goalposts so far this season in Bernard Parker (8 goals), Lehlohonolo Majoro (7 goals) and Kingston Nkhatha (3 goals). However it's also worth mentioning that Pirates have only conceded two goals in eight matches in the league since De Sa took over. Bucs have also kept clean sheets in their last four league games and the former Bidvest Wits coach says they will focus on their strengths... • • Pirates pacey wingers are also likely to pose a huge threat for the Chiefs defence that sometimes finds it difficult to cope with a high speed game. However Baxter says at this time it's all about founding balance between their approach and what will be coming from the opposition... • • Chiefs' unbeaten run in the league was stopped on it's tracks by the high flying Platinum Stars two weeks ago when they lost 2-0 but Amakhosi captain and the nation's number one Itumeleng Khune is praising his team for bouncing back from the loss... • • Captions: Stuart Baxter • Roger De Sa • • Visit our website http://www.sabc.co.za • Follow us on Facebook   / sabcportal   • Follow us on Twitter   / sabcportal
