110321 Homemade Geiger Counter

Here's a very basic 5 minute work geiger counter presented on my blog: http://www.pocketmagic.net/?p=1898 , that signals radiation using a led and a small speaker. The video shows a comparison between this DIY detector and a sensitive dosimeter, the Radex RD1706, when put close to a weak radioactive source (less then 0.9uC Cs137 from an old spark gap tube). • The detector tube used was the SI-22G, but others would work too.
