Sabre Exercises and Molinelli

This video will teach you how to throw fast and tight Molinelli cuts with the sabre. The Molinelli are the larger circular cuts which are very common in sabre matches, and it is important to be able to throw them quickly, firmly and without any wasted motion. The video begins with 6 exercises to build sport-specific fitness by working the muscles that control the elbow joint, and some muscles around the shoulder. It then introduces the Molinelli as a sequence of specific steps, first as large, exaggerated movements, and then as the tighter motion that you would want to throw in a sparring match. • These exercises are taken from Pecoraros 1912 sabre fencing treatise, translated by Christopher Holzman.
