I happened to watch the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Woman's Modern Pentathlon event today on the 6th of August 2021 and found it amazing how one portion of this 5-part sporting event seemed to be based on luck. The Show Riding Equestrian Event at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics part of the Womans Pentathlon caused quite a surprise when the athlete who was winning at the top of the leader bored Germany's Annika Schleu fell to the bottom after the horse she was randomly assigned, Saint Boy, refused to take part. The horse refusing to take part in the jumping event at the Olympics to me seemed to show the flaws of the Women Pentathlon at the Tokyo Olympic Games by pointing out how this portion could simply be based on luck. It in general seems unfair to both the horse, who's being forced to compete when it clearly doesn't want to, as well as the rider, who's being forced to put all their faith and training in the hooves of a sentient being that is reluctant to take part. I know very little of sports and the Olympics, etc, bu,t from what I read, I see no reason why it shouldn't be updated perhaps to allow riders to use their own horses or replaced entirely with a more appropriate sport. To me, in it's current form, it's just seems like This Olympics Event Is Messed Up. • • 20:49 06/08/2021 7732 • #olympics #tokyo #tokyo2021
