Learn how to do marquetry with me! After falling in love with marquetry and wanting to try this technique, inspired by marquetry artist Chelsea Vivash / chelsea_vivash , I set off to find a secondhand wooden lamp. After finding one that needed some minor repairs, I sketched my designs and cut them out using wood veneers in contrasting colours and wood grains. I used wood glue and tape to hold the veneer in place before clamping it down using a scrap piece of MDF, which I did for each side and the top. Honestly, I was shocked at how beautiful it looked even before sanding it. The joins aren't perfect, but they're pretty close, and for my first attempt at marquetry, I am so happy! After sanding, I applied varnish and changed the colour of the hardware from silver to gold. And that's it! I learned a lot during this project, which was both challenging and rewarding) and I hope it inspires you to give it a try! • *Apologies for the loud music in the middle of the video; it's my editing mistake.
