Ashokan Farewell on the mountain dulcimer. Lots of folk believe this to be an old fiddle tune from the Civil War, but that's because Ken Burns fooled you when he used it in his documentary. The song was written in the 1980s by Jay Ungar. So my advice is not to listen to me, but listen to Mr. Ungar himself: • Folk Alley Sessions: Jay Ungar Moll... . • However, if you are a dulcimer fan, by all means, keep listening. I am playing a Modern Mountain Dulcimer made of lacewood and tuned DAd. A few mistakes aside, this doesn't sound so bad, does it?
