How Does a Cobb Angle Classify Scoliosis

A cobb angle is used to measure the magnitude of the scoliosis by finding the most tilted vertebrae and comparing it to the most tilted vertebrae above or below and measuring that angle. This angle is usually measured in degrees which allows the scoliosis to be classified into different severities. Scoliosis that is less than 25 degrees is considered mild; 25-45 degrees is considered moderate; and 45 degrees or greater is considered severe. This cobb angle can also be influenced by the position of your x-ray. Make sure that all x-rays are taken while standing, shoes off, arms relaxed and at your side, and not leaning against anything. X-rays that are taken laying down affect the cobb angle greatly because laying down relieves pressure on the spine and reduces the curve. If you are getting scoliosis x-rays, making sure they are done correctly is important to classify the scoliosis. • For more information about how the cobb angle classifies scoliosis please visit: • https://www.scoliosisreductioncenter....
