Who is Allama Iqbal? This video is about our national poet, philosopher, politician, scholar, barrister and hero of Pakistan who first got the idea of introducing the concept of Pakistan. He was born in Sialkot and belonged to Kashmiri sheikh family. His father sheikh Noor Muhammad had a modest business with short income but he led his life with patience and persistence. When Allama Iqbal was five year old his father sends him for study under the supervision of Maulvi Mir Hassan Sahib. When Maulvi Mir Hassan Sahib saw the extraordinary intelligence and intellectual nature of Iqbal, advised his father that he Iqbal should be admitted to an English School. So Iqbal did his matriculation from Scotch Mission High School, and pass the intermediate from the same institution. After that he came to government College Lahore for Bachelor. The interest in literature of Iqbal should be understood as the result of Maulvi Mir Hassan Sahib’s education and training in Arabic and Persian. Iqbal’s father had a great love for Moulana Rome, he often used to read his poetry at home. Thus in childhood, Moulana Rome’s purity and high ideology became embodied on the Iqbal’s poetic tastes. Iqbal start to send his poetry for correction to the county’s famous poet Nawab Mirza Dagh. But he saw only two of his poem and said, Mian Iqbal your poetry has not required my correction”. Primarily his poetic work was written in Persian language among his 12,000 verses of poetry, 7,000 verses were in Persian. In Persian his first collection were published in 1915, the Asrar-i-khudi (Secrets of the Self). The Zabur-e- Ajam (Persian Psalms), Bandagi Nama (Books of Slavery), Payam-e- Mashriq (The Massage of the East), Rumuz-i-Bekhudi (Hints of Selflessness), Javed Nama (Book of Javed) is famous work in Persian. Allama Iqbal five books have been published in Urdu. His first book in Urdu prose is Knowledge Al- Aqsaad, was on the subject of economics. And more four volumes were published in Urdu, Bang-e- Dara, Bal-e-Gabriel, Zarb Kalim, and Armughan-e- Hijaz. In English Iqbal wrote two books, (The Development of Metaphysics in Persia) and (The Reconstruction of Religious Thoughts in Islam. In Punjabi he also wrote some poems sach as Piyaara Jedi and Baba Bakri wala in 1929 on javid’s birthday.
