Today, in our TERMINOLOGY SERIES, we talk about CDP’s, bins, and CDP scatter • Common Depth Point (CDP) - A set of ray paths from different source-receiver pairs that all reflect off a common location in the subsurface. • • Common Mid Point (CMP) - A set of ray paths from different source-receiver pairs that all reflect off a common location in the subsurface which is projected to the surface. • 3D Seismic Natural Bin - Defined as 1/2 the source interval x 1/2 the receiver interval. Typically used to spatially organize seismic data for processing • CDP Scatter - is the geospatial distribution of CDP points within a bin, where each CDP point represents a source-receiver pair. The distribution of CDP scatter in a bin can be categorized in different ways. In the particular case below, a single CDP point location in the center of the bin representing multiple S-R locations, we call it ‘focused’ • #seismic #shorts #geophysics #bjvdesigninc6298
