Although I try and minimise the use of power tools while allotment gardening, the weeds can get the better of me. I was concentrating on the new allotment and weeds on the crops allotment took advantage while I wasn't there. There was no way I could pull them all out by hand, so I needed some mechanical help. • The ground is cleared and covered. It won't be needed this year so the plastic will stop the weeds coming back. Ideally I wouldn't have used plastic but in an ideal world, the weeds would grow slowly and be only a few centimetres tall but this is not an ideal world, so sometimes you have to compromise an do the best that you can. • #allotment #StartingANewAllotment #allotmentgardening
