The circuit given here is of a regulated dual power supply that provides +12V and -12V from the AC mains. ... IC 7812 and 7912 are used for the purpose of voltage regulation in which the former is a positive 12V regulator and later is a negative 12V regulator and further 7805 for + 5v supply and 7905 for - 5v supply from -5v and +5v we get 10v an from 7812 +12v and 7912 -12v we get 24v supply 7812, 7805 is a 12V and 5v Voltage Regulator that restricts the voltage output to 12V , 5v and draws 12V , 5v regulated power supply. The 7812 is the most common, as its regulated 12-volt supply provides a convenient power source for most TTL components. 7812 is a series of 78XX voltage regulators. A voltage regulator IC maintains the output voltage at a constant value. 7805 IC, a member of 78xx series of fixed linear voltage regulators used to maintain such fluctuations, is a popular voltage regulator integrated circuit (IC). The xx in 78xx indicates the output voltage it provides. 79xx voltage regulators are very commonly used in electronic circuits. The main purpose of this IC is to supply required regulated negative voltage to the circuits. IC 79xx can supply a constant negative voltage output, in spite of any voltage fluctuations in its input voltage.
