Solar Impulse landed successfully in Nanjing after weeks of delay due to unfavourable weather conditions. The Solar Dragonfly, as Solar Impulse is referred to in China, was welcomed by a crowd of journalists as there has been increasing interest for the #RTW adventure in the Middle Kingdom. The crew celebrates the plane arrival as well as an experience member of the team, Catherine's birthday. Watch our Chinese Coordinator take us through the landing in the local language. Welcome to this special Chinese edition of Insider. • As you can see, Bertrand just landed successfully on Nanjing airport with Si2. After days of waiting and seeing Bertrand making many circles in the Skype, we finally saw our solar dragonfly landed safe and sound. The ground crew is making final checks in order to get Bertrand out of the cockpit. Behind me, there is a huge crowd of journalists. Everyone is following this CQ-NJ flight with huge interest. On Weibo, I can also feel this enthusiasm. What we heard just now is the birthday song dedicated to one of our crew members, Catherine. As an experienced member, she has contributed a lot to our project. Let’s wish her a happy birthday. As planned, this flight should have been carried out by Andre, but later he went back to Switzerland to have some rest, after experiencing constant headaches. Bertrand then piloted the plane and completed this mission successfully. In Nanjing, our plane is gonna stay for at least 2 weeks , during which there will be a series of on site events. After NJ, our team will take a huge challenge, which is the pacific crossing, of 5 days and 5 nights, from NJ to Hawaii. This leg will be carried out by Andre.
