The history of the 12 Oaks Trail goes all the way back towards the end of the Civil War in 1860. The property has been parcelled out a fee times as well as the ownership crossing many hands; including an ex slave. • The trail system took shape in 2011 when the only Land Trust in MS (only 130 in the US) was donated the land from a housing and retail development in order to preserve the area. • The half mile trail system was laid out, signs made posted and what you see is the result of their work. • Various nonprofit organizations use the area such as the local Boy Scouts who have a learning area set aside for them. • • #nature #hiking #outdoors • Moonlight Reprise by Kai Engel is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 International License.
