For more information call (81) 3222-5252* • ------------------------------------------------- ---------------- • 'ROUTINE: PA AND PROFILE' • ------------------------------------------------- ---------------- • ♦ PA: • ►Patient Positioning • • Patient in orthostatic position, feet slightly apart, weight evenly distributed on both • the feet • • High chin, resting against the RI • • Hands on lower hips, palms out, elbows partially • flexed • • Previously rotated shoulders supported against the RI to allow the scapulae to move • laterally leaving the lung fields free; lowered shoulders to project collarbones • below the apexes • ►Party Position • • Align the mid-sagittal plane in relation to the RC and the midline of the RI with equal margins between the • lateral chest and sides of the RI. • • Ensure that there is no chest rotation when positioning the mediocoronal plane parallel to the RI. • • Raise or lower the RC and RI as needed to the T7 level for the mean of patients (the • top of RI should be approximately 4 to 5 cm [1 ½ to 2 inches] above shoulders on average of • most patients). • ►Central Radius • • CR perpendicular to IR and centered in the midsagittal plane at the level of T7 (18 to 20 cm or 7 to 8 • inches below the vertebral prominence or at the lower angle of the scapulae) • • RC centralized at RI. • ------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- • ♦PROFILE: • ►Patient Positioning: • • Patient in orthostatic position, left side against RI unless patient's complaint • wrap the right side (in this case, make a right profile if the service routine includes this option) • • Weight distributed evenly on both feet • • Arms raised above head, chin up • ► Position of the Party: • • Center the patient in relation to CR and IR. • • Position in true profile (the coronal plane is perpendicular to the RI and the sagittal plane is • parallel to RI; see Note 1) • • Slightly lower the RC and RI in relation to the PA incidence, if necessary (See Note 2) • ►Central Radius: • • CR perpendicular, directed to the mid-chest at the level of T7 (7.5 to 10 cm [3 to 4 inches] • below the level of the jugular notch). • DFOFI: 1.80 • RI: 35x43 or 35x35 • *Source: Kenneth L.
