Bangladesh protesters storm PM’s residence in Dhaka

Footage from a local broadcaster in Bangladesh shows protesters looting the official residence of the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, in the capital, Dhaka. • Subscribe to Guardian News on YouTube ► http://bit.ly/guardianwiressub • Some of the protesters could be seen carrying chairs from the Ganabhaban residence. Hasina has since resigned and fled the country. • Dozens of people have been killed in anti-government protests that have swept across Bangladesh in recent days. Mobile internet access was cut off in an attempt to quell the unrest. The country’s leading Bengali-language daily newspaper, Prothom Alo, said that at least 95 people, including at least 14 police officers, had died in the violence.
