Today we take the new Ruger American Rifle Ranch Edition, chambered in 7.62x39, to the range to get dialed in and see how well it performs. We tested Tula 122 gr. FMJ, Winchester 123 gr. FMJ and Winchester 123 gr. Power-Point hunting ammunition. • I zeroed in using a Caldwell Lead Sled Solo and tested all three grades of ammo at 100 yards. I then turned around and repeated the test with a bipod to better simulate field accuracy. Off camera I had not trouble connecting with 20 gongs at 250-300 yards and long distance tests will follow. • Quick side note, the bolt on this rifle was not sticking, with the low seating and high shooting position on my Lead Sled, I had a less than ideal angle for operating the bolt so I had to resort to standing up.
