#nudibranch #seaslug #animalbehavior • Several nudibranchs show what is called “trailing behavior”. • Here you can see two individuals of Risbecia tryoni. One slug trails the other. • This was filmed in Bacong, on Negros Island in the Philippines. • It is not clear what the adaptive value of this trailing behavior is. Are they saving energy by using the mucous trail of the slug crawling first? Or is this strategy to stay with a potential mate for later mating? • To my best knowledge, no one knows for sure. Again, that's the beauty of science: The more you understand and observe, the more new questions pop up. • Music by Pepin Lachance via Creative Commons. • Tet to Speech for the narration from: http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/ • Visit my blog at: http://pacificklaus.com/
