An explanation of the Maximum Likelihood Estimator method of statistical parameter estimation, with examples in Excel. • • In the video, I sometimes refer to the method as the Most Likely Estimator method. I call it this informally, but it is more correctly called the Maximum Likelihood Estimator . The name comes from the fact that we are searching for values of the parameters that maximize the Likelihood function. It was a slip of the tongue for me to refer to it informally within the video. • The spreadsheet can be downloaded from • https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lmH... • It's a Google docs site; you'll need to find a button to download the file rather than opening it from there. Look for the more actions icon (three vertical dots) and click it. Under that is the download option. Once downloaded, you can view the macro by opening the file in Excel, going to the Developer tab, and selecting the Visual Basic button. Look in the modules for the actual subroutines that automatically perform the goal-seek.
