A Replated Steel Cent

So this is the same coin that was featured in this video (towards the end): • • Silver Update #2 • When I first saw this coin, I thought that it was definitely in mint state condition. It turns out that on closer inspection, this cent is indeed re-plated. This kinda sucks because I paid $35 for it and its worth only a fraction of that. • What happens is people take lightly circulated steel cents and re-apply the zinc coating. This gives the coin an unnatural mirror like shine and removes any mint luster the original coin had.
