In this video I accidentally catch a large poisonous porcupine puffer fish while fishing for barracuda. • This is spot fin porcupine fish or Diodon Hystrix in Latin.This fish's teeth are fused together into a single unit and are as hard as stone. This fish can easily eat sea urchins mollusks and crabs. I don’t recommend anyone touches this fish with his/her bare hands. Her scales transform into sharp needles which are about 3-4 cm in length. When the fish is relaxed the spikes lay on its body but once the fish is alarmed, they spike up at a ninety degree angle.Besides, there is a very dangerous toxin that is present on the skin of the porcupine fish. Tetradotoxin is present in porcupine and puffer fish liver skin and gonad. This toxin is a very powerful neurotoxin which is a hundred times more powerful then cyanide. luckily the molecules of the tetradoxin cannot pass through the skin. However if you have any open wounds, it can get into the bloodstream so wear gloves just in case. this toxin usually gets into out body through the ingestion of this fish’s meat or organs. When the fish still feels threatened and doesn’t let air out of its body, he plays dead until he feels absolutely safe.
