In this video we explain how to use Pool Coating and what the differences are between epoxy and polyurethane based coatings • For more information visit http://www.ktisis.eu • EPOXY AND POLYURETHANE POOL COATINGS • So, in this presentation, we are going to talk about Epoxy and Polyurethane Pool Coatings. We’re going to present you our pool coatings and give you some general information about how to use pool coatings. • The main advantage is, there are two more pictures of pools that have been coated with our own product, one is that pool coatings are easy to apply, you can just apply and re-coat, change the color very quickly and easily, it doesn’t require stripping the entire surface, removing for example a membrane or removing the tiles, you can just re-coat quickly. • Next, you can change the appearance of pool; one year you have a blue color, next year you have a white color. We have customers that are hotels and always want to change the color of the pools, it’s very, very easy to do it. Some hotels like white colors, some like blue, some like dark blue, whatever you want, you can change the appearance of the pool. • The third advantage is a low replacement cost: If you put tiles and the tiles start to fail, stripping all the tiles and replacing them can be quite costly also is a membrane like a PVC membrane or liner, it looks great when it’s new but a few years down the road, removing it and putting something else in place is quite expensive. • Do some testing to make sure you applied on a compatible pool coating. Very important, this is why we have in very large letters, NEVER APPLY STRAIGHT ON CONCRETE. Some people believe they can just paint the concrete foundation with pool paint and that’s enough to work, you will get leaks, you need to always have a cementitious water layer between the concrete and the coating. Cementitious water proofing is very important and the reason is, it’s not just to protect from the water inside the pool, but also on the outside. • Another important application recommendation always apply 1-2coats of the Ktisepox Hydro PR as a Primer, it’s a water based primer, we recommend for both pool coatings so weather you apply Epoxy Pool Coating or Polyurethane Pool Coating; we recommend that you apply this first. • PRODUCTS • And now, let’s go to the products, the products that we sell. We have two products; Ktisepox Piscine is our Epoxy based Pool Coatings; we ship tons and tons of this every year to many hotels and to many private companies. • The second one is Ktisopour UV Pool- it’s an Aliphatic PU Coating, the main difference between the two are first Epoxy based Pool Coating is good for 2-3years, then it requires renewing. • Second case, our Polyurethane Coating, it has longer life and this is what we want to talk to you now about. So, this is a Ktisepox Piscine, you need to recoat this every 2-3years and the reason is because Epoxy is not as UV resistance as Polyurethane is, after 2-3years, it will start to chalk, it will start to yellow a bit. You definitely want to be recoating it every 2-3years. • Ktisopur UV Pool are PU products has much longer UV resistance so it can last 5+ years; we’ve seen it last 10years but it’s also a matter of how you maintain your pool like the chemicals you’re using but it can easily last 5+ years, you should get a very good result if you apply Ktisopur UV Pool. • Now, the recommended consumption is about 200-250 gr per m2 per coat. Remember when you’re applying on the floor of the pool, consumption will be slightly higher on the walls, it will be slightly lower, this is an average value will be giving you 200-250 gr. • Always apply at least two coats of Pool Coating on top of the Primer we told you earlier about, and you can also add thinner. In fact, thinner helps to make the product slightly less, slightly better fluid, and it won’t drip as much if you apply thinner. • You can add thinner, we recommend dialing and we can provide you with this thinner, it can be added up to 10%.
