Babylon 5 Remastered on HBO Max Season 15 Examples

HBO Max now carries an HD version of Babylon 5. In this video I show off examples from all 5 seasons. • This is an actual remastered version, as it was a 4K rescan of the original that has been downsized to 1080p. Only the live action film footage was able to be rescanned at 4K. Any shots with composited VFX (green screen shots, PPG blasts, space scenes, etc) were originally done on SD video to save money, so there were no film negatives to rescan. Therefore they downscaled the 4K film while upscaling the SD VFX, meeting in the middle at 1080p. It’s also why the remastered version is 4:3 even though the entire series was shot on 16:9 film, since the VFX was only done in SD 4:3. • As I said, It's 4:3 like the original TV version and looks a lot sharper than the DVD and online SD versions we've been seeing over the years. • By uploading in 4K I will get more bandwidth. So the 1080p+ versions will then give you an accurate representation of HBO Max's quality. • I'm #captrobau and I like to make interesting videos about AI.
