Thomas Becket's life and death were extraordinary. He was born in London in 1118 and became Chancellor in 1155. He befriended King Henry II and was promoted to the position of Archbishop of Canterbury in 1162, the highest position in the Church in England. He became a strong defender of the faith and argued with Henry over the running of the church. In 1172, four knights acting on behalf of Henry II, brutally murdered Becket in Canterbury Cathedral. After his death Thomas Becket was canonised as a saint. • Thanks for watching • If you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe. • #history
