Kalighat painting or Kalighat Pat originated in the 19th century in West Bengal, India, in the vicinity of Kalighat Kali Temple. • Kalighat paintings in the present day, are practised by a small number of artists in rural districts of West Midnapore and Birbhum in West Bengal. These artists mainly focus on religious, secular, and contemporary themes by incorporating modern styles. The artists of the Kalighat paintings traditionally known as Patuas from nearby villages started settling around the temple area as Kolkata was a thriving economic and religious centre. • Kalighat Painting portrayed Goddess Kali and her tales of defeating the demons. Later, the paintings evolved to the depiction of various other Gods and Goddesses and their tales. And much later the paintings went onto depict the daily life of the people living in the space, but the style of the painting remains the same. • Let us know your thoughts about this video in comment section! • For more information about our services, write to us at [email protected]! • Contact us • Phone: +91 6393897910 • WhatsApp: https://wa.me/916393897910 • *Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT SHARE SUBSCRIBE* • Follow us on • Instagram -   / catterfly_art.and.culture   • Facebook -   / catterflyartandculture   • Twitter -   / catterfly_trvl   • Website - www.catterfly.com
