No Gravel Aquarium Fish Tanks? (It Does Work) UPDATE: I will never use sand again. Using gravel is much easier and I advice people that. • Why do I not use gravel in my fish tank aquariums? I'll tell you here in my video. Not a huge fan of substrate for multiple reasons. •   / bettafishkeepers   • I need some Methylene Blue advice. I was told to use it for my betta for a fungal infection and fin rot. Told to put him in a dip of it for a half hour a day. But there are no instructions on the bottle for this. So im wondering how much do I use for a half gallon container to treat him in and how long should I do this for? What are they from if its not from fungus? He had cottony patches that sloughed off him that's why I bought the Methylene Blue. Is it not going to help him? • http://forum.practicalfishkeeping.co.... • I just adjust the hot and cold taps to make sure my Bettas don't get a temp shock, as long as it feels roughly the same to the same finger I dipped in the tank they don't mind. We normally add the treatment to the whole tank after changing the water, straight away. Depending on the size of the tank an Indian Almond Leaf wouldn't hurt either to help reduce stress. • Rinse Sand:    • Rinse Aquarium Sand - How To Guide   • After the changes its still reading high nitrites!!! Smh but my betta is making a bubble nest, is this a good sign? Test everyday and change 50-75% of the water whenever nitrite and ammonia appear. No change 50-75% WHENEVER ammonia or nitrite appear. If it goes even purple or green (past .50) change the water. • Thanks. Very upsetting. This tank has been established for a year with different fish. I tested myself and took my water to be tested at a reputable aquarium store in my area to get a second opinion and all parameters were fine. I am thinking gill flukes so will try Prazipro on my one remaining. She looks good but is not eating. • Hey everyone • Okay so have a question. My Swordtails are acting weird I find. They are just hanging around the top or bottom of the tank, not swimming around like they normally do and are not even interested in food it seems. All water paramaters are fine, I did a water change yesterday. And noticed then that they didn't show any interest in the tubifix worms and again today they are not eating. My other fish all seem fine. What would you think. • Anybody know what's up here? Didn't see this yesterday when I was doing a water change. It's belly is all pinched up and there's a red streak from top to bottom. I had another one that I had assumed had been attacked by a frog before they got their own tank last week. It had the same red/blood and its fins looked like hell and were clamped down. It lived for about a week and now it's dead. They're giant danios if it makes any difference. • So I got Buenos Aires Tetras for my tank tonight. I thought all tetras were small enough for a 20 gal. But as I’m reading it’s saying 29 gal. I have a 20 tall. Is this true? If so I will return them for maybe neons. I only have 2 at moment as not to overload my bio. Planned on getting 2 more each week until I had 6. • 6 will be fine in a 20 gallon if that's all you have minus any cleaner fish like Siamese algae eaters...as long as you slowly build the bioload and your filtration can handle it you shouldn't have any issues. I had 11 of these guys for a short time and they're highly active. Personally I think even a 29 is too small. Good fish for a 4' tank. A lot of other better tetras for your tank IMO. I personally have Black Phantom Tetras in my 20High. Yes,I didn't realize they were going to be so big we will be returning them and getting neons can I safely add 4-6 at a time or did I just do 2 at a tiger so I don't overload my bio?
