Rebuilt USA Trains SD40 2 First Run

Train Video by Ted Doskaris • A rebuilt 1/29 (G scale) Union Pacific USA Trains SD40-2 for the first time is run (along with an Aristo-Craft SD45 GP40) on a 25 car train. The locos and cars all have body mount kadee centerset couplers. I obtained the SD40-2 only having body shell chassis used, albeit in excellent condition. The body shell chassis did include circuits boards, but no trucks and no other parts, including hoses, fold-down steps, MU connectors, exhaust stack, and railings. Lacking, too, was the wiring with connectors from the chassis' switch board to the trucks which had be cut off. Missing parts were obtained from USA Trains parts department. The SD40-2 loco, having been rebuilt, has all metal wheels (no traction tires) with added weight, and is equipped with CamPac 3-D printed pilot plugs coupler box fitted with Kadee centerset couplers.
