Based on North American's F-86 Sabre day fighter, the F-86D had only 25 percent commonality with other Sabre variants, with a larger fuselage, larger afterburner engine, and a distinctive nose radome. Kit features engraved panel lines, detailed cockpit with ejection seat (photo-etch seatbelts), positionable canopy, optional types of main wheels, detailed undercarriage, positionable ventral rocket tray, full length intake duct, detailed J47 engine, positionable radome with APG-36 radar dish, leading edge slats are extended (can be retracted), positionable (ailerons, rudder, speed brakes, trailing edge flaps), armament (x2) AIM-9B Sidewinder and fuel tanks (x2).
