Vanuit de denkwereld van deze door hen zo bewonderde voorgangers wordt een grote verzameling muzikale, humoristische acts vertoond, die hun oorsprong vinden in het variété. In SLÄPSTICK zullen ze bovendien hun eigen draai geven aan beroemde scènes van Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton en Laurel en Hardy. • Tickets: http://www.wereldband.nl • Muzikaal vakmanschap. • Dat de vijf van oorsprong rasmuzikanten zijn, was ook al te zien in hun eerdere theaterprogramma’s (o.a. Keet, Playground), alsmede in uitstapjes met onder andere het Residentie Orkest, IDT, Cirque Stiletto en Brigitte Kaandorp. Hun voorraad instrumenten lijkt eindeloos en ze zijn meester in ontsporende komische scènes met vaak een bijzondere twist, waarbij hun vakmanschap altijd fier overeind blijft. Bij de virtuoze, muzikale slapstick van de de Wëreldbänd kom je gewoonweg ogen en oren tekort. • Regie: Stanley Burleson, Regieadvies: Karel de Rooij, Lichtontwerp: Jacco van den Dool • The Wereldband’s new show SLAPSTICK is an ode to the musical comedian: from the medieval troubadour to Spike Jones and his band, the Marx Brothers, the renowned swiss clown Gronk, and Mini and Maxi. Based on the imagination of these greatly admired predecessors, the Wereldband is presenting a terrific collection of musical and humorous acts, deeply rooted in the ‘Variété’ tradition. In SLAPSTICK, famous scenes from the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy also get an original ‘Wereldband’ twist. • • Musical Craftsmanship • The fact that the five members of the Wereldband are true musicians was made clearly evident in their earlier theater shows (Keet, Playground), as well as through collaborations with established groups and artists such as the Residentie Orkest, het Internationaal Dans Theater, Cirque Stiletto, and Brigitte Kaandorp. They use their seemingly endless collection of instruments to masterfully create comic, ridiculous, and often touching scenes with a unique twist. Pure musical craftsmanship is always at the forefront of their whimsical creations. In short, the Wereldband’s musical slapstick is a feast for your eyes and ears!
