Victor Hugo Yañez Piña is a Mexican sculptor known for his hyperrealistic life-size bronze sculptures, busts, and wax figures. The artist says he can create a sculpture of any character and has created numerous ones of religious and historic figures, politicians, and actors in the past. • He was born in Mexico in 1967. Graduated from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving La Esmeralda . Specialized in hyper-realistic wax sculptures, his work is exhibited at the Mexico City Wax Museum and the Guanajuato Wax Museum. The artist is part of the stable of the Gilardi Museum and the Gilardi Art Gallery. • His recent work explores the power of self-reliance to forge your own path. The piece, titled Self-Made Man, presents a male subject. It is equipped with traditional carving tools. With a hammer and a chisel, which takes it upon itself to carve out its idealized form from a larger body. • While many figurative sculptures in the history of art explore the aesthetics of a “perfect” human form.
