Tu Leading Hand at McKee Fehl and WelTec Graduate

Studying at WelTec helped Tu get his apprenticeship at McKee Fehl, where he's now a leading hand, training to be a Junior Foreman. His role is to keep an eye on the subcontractors, as well as his team. He keeps on top of what his workers are up to, making sure they can move from task to task as efficiently as possible. • Tu is completing his studies part-time while working full-time, attending a couple of night classes a week. With a year left to go in his studies, Tu is grateful to be able to graduate with a couple years of experience under his belt. • Tu was inspired to study after seeing his mother, a non-English speaker, complete a degree in Māori and storytelling.
