I'd seen the Faraday Porteur first on Kickstarter - way back in 2012. Funny how time flys and I only got to ride this electric bike for the first time in 2016! • My first Porteur ride was good but my second was better. Why? Because the second time the bike had the front rack that epitomizes it's iconic look. The front rack stabilized the bike and pushed the front wheel motor into the road thus increasing it's traction and the pull you felt with each pedal stroke. • I was happy to find that the Porteur's 250 watt motor was able to supply a serious torque boost - far more than what I expected from 250 watts. I'm used to riding ebikes with 350 and 500 watt motors. I think the feeling of power I got was because the Faraday uses a geared front motor. The geared motor lends a feeling of immediacy and kick to the accelleration because there's a direct mechanical interface between the electric motor and the wheel - unlike a gearless motor where it's only magnetic force that's pushing the wheel forward. • Some nice bits and pieces you find on the Faraday Porteur are the steam bent bamboo fenders, leather grips that lock right on the handlebar, the handlebar itself (a nice swept back and upright bar), and the surprisingly comfortable leather seat. • Thank you so much for watching! -Peter Yuskauskas • Give us a call if you have questions about this or other electric bikes! • Worcester, MA 774-420-2344 • Johns Creek, GA 770-622-6000 • Here's the complete specification list of the Faraday Porteur electric bike: • Frame: Custom chromoly steel Porteur frame • Fork: Custom chromoly steel fork • Saddle: Faraday standard City Saddle.
