Immerse yourself in the captivating world of the Italian Mafia with this riveting tale! #italianmafia The Gambino and DeCavalcante families have a storied history of collaboration in organized crime, from waste management schemes to contract killings. While the infamous 1989 Fred Weiss hit is widely recognized, it wasn’t the first time Jersey’s mob executed a hit for the Gambinos. Back in 1965, under the leadership of Carlo Gambino and Sam “The Plumber” DeCavalcante, the two families were knee-deep in New Jersey’s waste hauling business. When Gambino associate Joseph “Joey Surprise” Feola got too ambitious, encroaching on Colombo family turf, Don Carlo knew it was time to step in. Gambino boss Carlo turned to DeCavalcante capo Fat Lou LaRasso to take care of the problem. On April 19, 1965, LaRasso lured Feola to a garage, where he was strangled, wrapped in burlap, and buried. LaRasso later reported back to Gambino captain Jimmy Brown Failla. This hit not only eliminated a pesky associate but also cemented the powerful alliance between the Gambino and DeCavalcante families.
