On July 4, 2024, a large wildfire in northern California, known as the Thompson Fire, forced over 26,000 people to leave their homes. The fire started near Oroville, about 70 miles north of Sacramento, an area that remembers the devastating 2018 Paradise fire, which killed 85 people. • The fire spread quickly, burning more than 3,500 acres of grass and woods. A giant cloud of smoke could be seen from space, showing the size of the fire. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Butte County to help with the firefighting efforts. • #newslive #California #gavinnewsom #wildfire #evacuations #firefighting #livenews #unitedstates #sacramento #oroville
