He went 3-0-1 in title defenses before losing to Bernard Hopkins in 2011. Prior to this fight, Pascal had victories over Silvio Branco, Aleksy Kuziemski, Esteban Camou, Adrian Diaconu (2x), George Blades, Lucian Bute and Chad Dawson. Pascal compiled a record of 29-3-1 prior to facing Kovalev. • Kovalev had established his reputation as a powerful force in the Light Heavyweight division, with his tremendous punching power and prior to this fight Kovalev had racked up a record of 27-0-1 with 24 knockouts wins and 20 of these KO wins were under 3 rounds. The Krusher had victories over Darnell Boone, Cedric Agnew, Nathan Cleverly, Blake Caparello, Ismail Sillakh and perhaps his most defining victory to date; a dominant one sided decision over Bernard Hopkins where Kovalev scored a knockdown in the very first round and proceeded to hammer Hopkins from pillar to post to win every round, bagging the WBA and IBF titles. • Pascal suffered the first knockdown and also his first career loss by knockout in this fight but he put up a tremendous performance coming back from a seemingly inevitable early KO by Kovalev to hurt the Russian powerhouse but ultimately succumbs to his power. • This fight is reminiscent of the many great Light Heavyweight fights in the 80s where the era was packed with great 175 pound talents such as Michael Spinks, Marvin Johnson, Victor Galindez, Yaqui Lopez, John Conteh, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad etc. • Enjoy the fight and remember to SUBSCRIBE!
