Introduction • Hi everyone, Welcome to Nityal Physio channel. • The topic for 5th episode of neck pain series is Cervical Spondylosis Part 2. • In case if you missed the first part of Cervical Spondylosis, link is in description below and cards. • Cervical Spondylosis Part 1 • • Cervical Spondylosis symptoms, preca... • • In this video I’m going to go over what is cervical spondylosis stage II, it’s causes, symptoms, and give management tips for easing the pain at home. • So watch till the end. • Cervical spondylosis is a term used for arthritis of the neck region. • It is age related wear and tear, which affects the spinal disc and cervical vertebrae. • The spinal discs are the shock absorbers of the neck that is situated in between the cervical vertebrae. • They aid in movement that help your neck stay flexible, so you can bend and turn. • When we are born the spinal discs contain 80% water. • As we age gradually the changes in spine takes place and water content reduces in the spine. • This causes the spinal discs to dry out and leading to less shock absorption. • As the discs dehydrate and shrink signs beginning signs of osteoarthritis start to develop including bone spurs or osteophytes, along the edges of the vertebrae. • This whole process is called cervical spondylosis. • More commonly, it is referred to as osteoarthritis. • Cervical spondylosis is very common and typically worsens with age. • The majority of most of the people by the age of 60 will have some amount disc degeneration, even if they are bot experiencing pain or numbness. • Also, it is not a fast process, by any means. • It can take several years, even decades, before symptoms are experienced. • Most people will be asymptomatic. • The severe causes and symptoms experienced by people with cervical spondylosis. • Age also affects the strength and structure of the spinal discs. • The discs have two main parts a sift core called nucleus pulposus and a tough outer wall called as annulus fibrosus. • With spondylosis, cracks often appear in this outer wall leading to bulging of herniated disc. • Its these bulges that can press on to the nearby spinal cord and nerve roots. • A herniated disc from spondylosis resulting in the pinched nerve usually will have pain felt shooting and travelling down that hand. • This radiating pain id referred to as radiculopathy. • People feel numbness and tingling into arms and Hands. • Another way radiculopathy may come is due to spinal stenosis. • Who are more prone to get cervical spondylosis? • Repetitive motions of neck. • Previous neck injuries • The exercises are ..
