Maina Pokhari Ghatana - Incident Disgrace • In the early noon of 9th May 2004, on the mountainous highway near Maina Pokhari, a public bus heading to Kathmandu from Jiri was caught in the crossfire of army troupes and Maoist guerillas. Within a quarter of an hour, eight innocent Nepali lost their lives. The army and the Maoist suffered losses too. • When the press flashed image of a surviving grandmother holding 20-day-old grandchild, more emotions broke loose. Amrit was also disheartened. Soon, he travelled to the incident site. • The heavy air of a terrible loss and a grim ambience of a disgraceful act. He all captured one by one, talking with villagers, survivors and helpless eyewitnesses. Instead of chords, Amrit remained surrounded by silence. • Out of this painful contemplation of Maina Pokhari incident has come 'Ghatana' in a blend of narrative folk art of the wandering Gandharvas - the Nepali troubadours, fused to Rock Ballad.
