What is posture? • posture is an attitude assume by the body with the help of integrated action of many muscles. • Types of Posture: • There are mainly two types of posture: • 1. inactive posture • The posture where minimal muscle work is required to maintain essential functions of life such as circulation respiration. • e.g; • a.Sleeping • b.Resting • 2. Active posture: • The posture where many muscles work together to maintain erect position and efficient movement. There are further two types of Active posture, • a . Static posture • Constant muscle work is required to maintain static posture. • b . Dynamic posture • Modified muscle work is required to maintain dynamic posture. • The postural mechanism: • 1.
