Bolt Representation Using Ansys Mechanical — Lesson 1

This video discusses two ways to represent bolts: solid and line bodies. The solid body model contains the bolt head and all threads and includes nonlinear contact behavior; as a result, it has a large number of nodes and is computationally expensive. In many cases, such details won't be important, and the bolt can be modelled as a line body. A line body ignores the threads and friction effects; hence it can be represented with fewer nodes for computational efficiency. • // INTERESTED IN MORE? • Visit Ansys Innovation Courses for free courses, including videos, handouts, simulation examples with starting files, homework problems, and quizzes. • Visit today → https://bit.ly/3Eo8esU • // DOWNLOAD FREE ANSYS SOFTWARE • Ansys offers free student product downloads for homework, capstone projects, student competitions, online learning and more! • Download today → https://bit.ly/32eEcuR • // QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS VIDEO OR USING ANSYS? • Get help from Ansys experts and peers through the Ansys Learning Forum.
