Ice Fishing Adventures Tomhannock Reservoir NY January 2017

Special Permit needed from the city of Troy in order to fish this reservoir • Ice Fishing Tomhannock Reservoir NY, 1-11-17. • I take my 2nd trip out to Tomhannock Reservoir, this time by myself, in the hunt for big walleyes. I set up 5 tips ups with medium shiners in varying depths off the bottom ranging from 6 to 2'. I also set up a tip down dead stick pole rigged with a minnow close to a hole I was jigging with a rattle spoon. I spent 5 hours on the ice from 12:30-5:30 (no fishing allowed after dark). • I have only fished this reservoir a few times before so I am still looking for a good spot to fish. This was not the good spot today. I have also never caught a walleye through the ice so I am not sure if I am using the proper bait or jigs. • White perch are not the best eating fish, but I cooked these ones up and ate them that night.
