Examples of SVT include Atrial tachycardia, Atrial flutter, Atrial Fibrillation and AVRT and AVNRT. AVNRT is the classic SVT and is a result of abnormal/unsynchronised electrical transmission from the AV node to the ventricles. • Normally conduction from the right atrium to ventricles occurs over a singular AV nodal pathway, with no route of re-entry back into the atrium. AVNRT as the name suggest is an tachyarrhythmia caused by a reentry circuit in the AV node. • In AVNRT there are two AV nodal pathways. Patients can have two AV nodal pathway and be fine, however some people have a slow and fast conducting AV nodal pathway.
