These diseases specifically target the glomeruli - the kidney part that is responsible for filtering the blood. Other terms used to describe Glomerulonephritis include nephritis or nephrotic syndrome. This disease causes the inflammation of the blood vessels that supply blood, oxygen and other vital components as well as remove the excess fluids and waste from the kidney. • Glomerulonephritis can either develop suddenly or rather chronic or develop gradually. In the latter formation, patients may not notice any symptoms initially. However, with time, a dysfunctional kidney leads to the accumulation of salt and excess fluid. The build-up of unwanted toxins leads to complications such as high blood pressure and chronic kidney diseases.
