This is a Dynasty Forge Daimyo class katana. Dynasty forge makes a lot of different kinds of swords and this is one of their highest ends swords. It is from their tamahagane steel and it has a very pleasant pattern to look at one the face of the steel. • The sword has a really nice hada to look at and the feeling of the blade is very pleasant in the hand. It is average in weight and has an average POB. Still for being a 29” blade it feels better than it should. It just feels lighter than it should in the hand for what it is and that makes it feel very lively and controllable in the hand. At least in my opinion. • As for the condition of the blade, it is in unused condition but has some signs of handling or age. The blade is straight and sharp. No rust, nicks, or dings that I can see. The polish has some minor blemishes from saya rub but no scratches from cutting. The saya has a few scuffs from being put on a stand and from being wiped down. The habaki is held well by the koiguchi. The tsuba has a little wiggle in it but the tsuka is tight and does not move when the blade is in motion. The ito is reasonably tight. This blade is ready for display, iaido, or cutting. • • SKU: 134002 • Blade length (in/cm): 29” (without 1” habaki) • Tsuka 10.75” • Weight: 2lb 1oz • POB: 4.75” from tsuba • Sori: .9” • Moto-haba: 1.27” • Saki-haba: .93” • Motokasane: .24” • Sakikasane: .15” • Steel: Tamahagane • Polish: Hand • Temper: Differential Clay-tempered • Bo-hi: Yes • Tsuba: Silver Wheel • Fuchi-Kashira: Silver Wheel • Ito: Black silk • Saya: Black gloss • MSRP: $2500 • This is a really great looking and feeling sword. It feels like the smith put a lot more thought into how the sword should handle than you would expect on a production sword. It has a classic look to the overall presentation and there is a lot of fine detail to admire. If you are interested in a production sword that closely recreates some of the charm of a classic Japanese katana, this is a solid option. • • Link to the new facebook spot - / matthewjensenswordreview • Link to the new patreon spot - / krunan • Link to my ebay sales page - http://www.ebay.com/usr/krunangree
